Old Colony Young Marines meet every Tuesday evening from 1745 to 2030 (that's 5:45 PM to 8:30 PM) at the Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth located at 9 Resnik Road in Plymouth Massachusetts. Meetings are not scheduled during the winter and spring school vacations. If the community cancels school because of snow on a day a weekly meeting is scheduled then the meeting will also be cancelled. Depending on weather, the meetings are generally divided into 3 parts.
A Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is required every quarter. Young Marines participate in physical fitness activities in order to help motivate them to build and maintain healthy bodies.
Close Order Drill is conducted to help build teamwork, spirit and self-discipline. This also helps build self-confidence and self-esteem in our Young Marine leaders by giving them the opportunity to stand in front of a group and give directions.
Classroom work covers topics from customs and courtesies, history, leadership, citizenship, first aid, camping, orientating, camping, fire safety, public speaking and much more. As the United States Marine Corps' Youth Drug Demand Reduction Program we are also required to teach a Drug Demand Reduction class every quarter.
